Urban Flat Scanners
都市風景は写真や映画という光学メディアを通して、数多く表現され語られてきた。
一方でコピー機やスキャナーは20世紀に登場した光学メディアであるが、いまだオフィスの中に鎮座している。
そんなスキャナーたちをオフィスから解放し都市風景を捕らえるメディアとして転用する。
スキャナーには遠近法がなく、その視覚は全てフラットである。パノラマに対してジオラマであり、
1/1の地図とも捉えることができる。言い換えれば極小の範囲を切り取る地上0mmの航空写真なのだ。
このミクロなログ採りによって、巨大な”都市そのもの”の状況を捉える細胞採取となる。
Many times, the urban landscape was expressed and talked about through the optical media such as photography and movies.
On the other hand, copy machines and scanners is the optical media which came into existence in the 20th century,
but they mainly occupy office. We will free the scanners from the office and divert them to media for capturing urban landscape.
Scanner doesn’t have perspective, and it’s vision is all flat. If photography is panorama, scanner is diorama.
We can consider it as 1/1 map. In other words, it’s aerial photo taken zero meter from the ground, capturing tiny range.
By this micro log-picking, like picking the cells of the huge city itself, can’t we open up the alternative of city landscape?
